Also known as a DC programmable load, these AC or DC electronic loads are used by power supply, battery, solar, wind, or other manufacturers who want to thoroughly test their power sources. &nbsp;Manufacturers of these products need to test their supplies dynamically, rapidly increasing and decreasing the load in a repeatable fashion in order to demonstrate compliance to quality and safety standards.&nbsp; Programmable electronic loads make this type of testing much easier than configuring resistors or resistive elements for each test. &nbsp;Devices must be tested for their various states of operation. &nbsp;Batteries must often also be tested for hundreds or thousands of cycles to ensure longevity and to determine expected lifetime. &nbsp;Electronic loads are used by car battery manufacturers, fuel-cell manufacturers, motor manufacturers, cell-phone manufacturers, solar panel manufacturers, oil &amp; gas, and in other industries where power must be tested and they are useful to determine characteristics and providing discharge test data for engineers. &nbsp;Electronic load systems are also useful for aerospace, commercial electronics, defense, and by utilities where special modes of operation are required and need to be tested.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4224\" src=\"https:\/\/www.circuitspecialists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/DC-programmable-load-300x159.png\" alt=\"dc programmable load\" width=\"300\" height=\"159\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.circuitspecialists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/DC-programmable-load-300x159.png 300w, https:\/\/www.circuitspecialists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/DC-programmable-load-390x205.png 390w, https:\/\/www.circuitspecialists.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/DC-programmable-load.png 660w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Figure 1: The ITECH DC Programmable Load pictured above offers high voltage capabilities and remote programming options.
