Variac Transformer TDGC2-2D with 20 Amp Max Output and LCD Digital Display
- Backlit LCD Digital Display for output voltage!
- Quality control testing
- Equipment testing on low and high voltage
- Precise control over heat and speed
- Ability to simulate various voltage and line conditions
- Rated up to 20 Amps or 2KVA Peak (16A Continuous)
- Requires AC input provides AC output (does not convert AC to DC)
- Does not affect the cycle rate
The Variac Transformer TDGC2-2D is an affordable, versatile way to adjust AC voltage output. This affordable variable transformer compares favorably with the Variac 3PN1010B model for 25% the price, and with a high-efficiency output and no waveform distortion, the variable ac transformer can be used for a wide array of professional and DIY applications, whether as a benchtop power supply for testing electronics or an ac voltage regulator for roasting coffee beans. This model also includes an LCD Digital Display in place of the less accurate analog dial display.
The Variac Transformer TDGC2-2D is an adjustable power supply that does not convert AC to DC. It requires an AC input and the output is also AC, providing an AC power supply. Also, the unit will not affect the cycle rate from the power source! If your power system is providing 60Hz, the Variac autotransformer will not change that, the output will be an undistorted 60Hz. This unit is rated up to 20 Amps or 2KVA Peak (16A Continous).
LCD Digital Display
Measure the exact output voltage on the LCD digital display, back-lit for better reading in low light. The digital display provides more accurate, precise readings than analog bench power supply voltmeters.
0-130V Adjustable AC Output
Adjust voltage up to 130V using the clearly labeled, durable metal rotary nozzle at the top of the variac.
Built-In Copper Coil
This variable autotransformer uses a high-quality, durable copper coil, which provides the high-efficiency AC output.
Voltage Overload Protection
The included on/off power switch and replaceable fuse protect your adjustable transformer from voltage overload and short-circuiting.
Rated Up to 20 Amps
Test and power projects both large and small. At 20 amps, this variac can sustain longer operation than 5 amp or 1 amp variacs and be used for a wide variety of applications.
High-Efficiency
Our quality control tests showed zero waveform distortion and accurate readings when compared to a multimeter. The unit will not affect the cycle rate from the power company.
Note: Variacs are not compatible with most GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter) wall outlets. We have found that the inductive load that the Variac represents is not compatible with most GFI circuits and they will trip the breaker.
Note: Not equipped with an isolated transformer.
Note: This unit is rated at 20 amps and most household outlets are only rated for 15 amps. Because 20 amps is peak output, if used in a home environment it is only recommended for peak operation for short periods of time; the sustained operation shouldn't be at more than 15 amps of continuous output, with 20 amp peaks for no more than 10-15 minutes.

An Adjustable AC Power Supply with Wide Applications
This versatile variable power supply can be used for a variety of applications. Below are just a few projects your variac can power.
Roast Coffee Beans
To obtain the freshest coffee possible, coffee connoisseurs prefer to roast and grind their own coffee beans. You can use a Variac to adjust the roasting temperature to the ideal value.
Amplify Music
Using the variac, you can adjust the voltage to dial in to the sweet spot that would work with your amplifier.
Dim Lights
Incandescent lights may be dimmed by varying the applied AC voltage. This is not possible with newer LED or fluorescent lamps.
Test or Repair Electronics
Power your prototypes and test repaired electronic equipment using the variac. After performing a repair on a piece of electronic equipment, it is best to slowly power up the device to avoid burning up the replaced parts.
Restore Vintage Radios & Electronics
When powering up an old radio or amplifier that has not been used for an extended period of time, it is best to apply reduced voltage power to the unit in stages in order to re-condition the electrolytic capacitors.
